Project Details
After looking at solar panels originally 6 years ago, Mr Lofthouse came to us for a quote after reconsidering based on the advances in battery storage technology, previously he’d been told it wasn’t worth it due to roof direction – but seemed more viable now. With an electric car and air source heat pump, Alistair was looking to have the full renewable solution.
Seeking quotes from 3 different companies, Renewafuel Home Innovations stood out to Alistair for our enthusiasm and energy – plus the fact we physically visited to view the property and have a chat about what he’d like to achieve (online consultations from other companies didn’t really impress)
We visited Alistair to survey his property and discuss the available options, providing information about how the panels would work, our recommended location for them, where Mr Alistair would prefer them to be located and how many would fit on the available roof space. The system was installed within 2 weeks, the installers arriving on install day at 8am – and by 3pm he was generating electricity!
We recommended 8x DMEG 405w Solar Panels to be fitted to Mr Lofthouse’s North-West facing roof we also recommended adding battery storage to take advantage of the excess generated electricity – and Mr Lofthouse will be revisiting us for a quote for his commercial property too.
With the customer wisely taking advantage of his daytime solar generation and battery during the evening – the incentive to export in this case isn’t as attractive. However should Mr Lofthouse wish to take advantage of the Smart Export Tariff – EDF (his current energy provider) do provide this service and we’ll be happy to help with the application process.
Basically the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) is a tariff operated by the various energy suppliers such as British Gas, Octopus, Scottish Power, Ovo Energy, EON etc. hey will pay you for exporting unused electricity back to the National Grid. The amount they pay you varies depending on their own current individual tariffs.

Very impressed with service so far, the fitting was a week after we signed up. Fitting was done within the day, we were generating power by 3pm that day. We have an app on our phone that displays what you our saving, our roof being North west is not the best but on a sunny day in June provides 14KV that is enough to power the house. We have the batteries so that in winter we can charge off peak and reduce our peak rate consumption to hopefully nill.
